Heroes don't stay heroes for long.
Not in Castrum Novum. Not when the bodies start piling up.
The PCs ride into Castrum Novum on the back of a great victory. The town receives them well: feasting, drinking, a few days of the kind of celebration that makes the road worth walking. Then someone turns up dead. Then another. The killings are vicious, the kind that leave the scene looking less like murder and more like something animal got loose.
The town investigates. The clues accumulate. And they all point, one by one, back toward the party. Someone notices the blood on the clothes. Someone else remembers where the PCs were standing. The elders start talking. The crowd starts listening. Somewhere in the party, one of them might be a lycanthrope... and they may not even know it.
The PCs must clear their name before the entire town moves in to execute them. The monster may already be among them.
The Creature of Castrum Novum is a mystery adventure built on social pressure: investigation, accusation, and the creeping dread of not knowing whether one of your own is responsible. Combat will happen, but the real danger is the town's patience running out before the truth comes to light.
